“AND EVERY ONE THAT WAS IN DEBT, AND EVERY ONE THAT WAS DISCONTENTED, GATHERED THEMSELVES UNTO HIM; AND HE BECAME A CAPTAIN OVER THEM:” – 1Samuel 21:3.
“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” so goes the saying! And it was so with David too. He embraced with open arms all those who were rejected by his nemesis – King Saul. His heart was big enough to hold the good ones along with the bad ones; the weak with the strong; the good, the bad, and the ugly, all were in his camp!
You remember the movie “Catch me if you can” ? A movie based on a true life story, starred by Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. In real life, Frank Abagnale Jr. in the 1960s, a high school drop out, runs away from home when his parents marriage hits the rocks, and eventually runs afoul of the law. He becomes a master of deception. He impersonates a Doctor, a lawyer, and a co-pilot of a major airline. He commits one felony after another and the law is desperate to catch him. The Police Department, the Fraud Bureau, and the FBI launch the biggest ever manhunt in the history of the US to apprehend this juvenile Criminal. The FBI goes to his father and wants him to help nab his son who is elusive as an eel. And this is what the father tells the FBI agents; “He is my son and I am his father. I will never give up on him; I will never give him up.” …You see the love of a father is inexhaustible! It is not only unconditional it is also unending and unfailing!! If you are going through a time where all have turned their backs on you, the ones whom you trusted have turned against you, take heart for our heavenly father JESUS CHRIST will never give up on you! Even if the whole world were to gang up on you he will never abandon you. He will stand by you to the very end! To everybody else you maybe trash, but to Him you are His TREASURE! God bless you.
