“Moonkil Aaru” (Bamboo River) – is a village that flanks a newly carpeted highway, and is located halfway between Mullaiteevu and Paranthan. This region had been at the epic-center of the three decade long war between the LTTE and the Sri Lankan forces. Since the conclusion of the war those displaced due to the conflict have returned, and are painstakingly rebuilding their battered and bombed-out dwellings, and piecing their lives together.
Last week (April 2016) we visited a few of those affected by the conflict, and a small community of Christians, and comforted them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. ‘My Peace I give unto you’ said Jesus ‘is a peace this world cannot give you.’ We are making plans to set up a permanent base here from where we hope to address both the spiritual and material needs of these hapless people.
