Ebenezer Thevaraj, his wife Melanie and their three dashing and musically gifted young children had the audience in rapture with their spell-binding performance at our “Sword of the Lord” Gospel Musical held in the city of Batticaloa just a fortnight ago. The family domiciled in Canada and on a whirlwind tour of the island ministered in word and song in different parts of the country. Adding spice & flavour to the proceedings was Dilan Lamb, son of Veteran Evangelist Late Darlo Lamb, and nephew of Prophetess Angelina (Sweety) Lamb, with his seasoned band of muscicians (SHALOM) rendered invaluable service in backing the Ebenezer family.
A children’s dance troupe from Pastor Kuhan’s Church (East Lanka Evangelical Mission) enlivened the evening’s proceedings with a colourful and lively presentation of motion set to music. Children whirled and twirled to the lilting melodies and the springing rythms of Hebraic music from Israel. This special presentation was a display and an expression of our solidarity with the embattled nation of Israel.
Nestled deep within the woodlands of Pollebadde live the ‘Adivasis’; Tribesmen who claim to be the indigenous natives of Sri Lanka. I befreinded the Chieftain of this Tribe who is also the head of 28 Adivasi (Veddha) communities in the region. He is also a Christian with a passion. I invited him to share his testimony at our “Gospel Musical”. He witnessed, that before Knowing Christ, how they practiced ‘spiritism’ and ‘witchcraft’, and worshiped demon spirits thinking that they were Gods. We have already had a Gospel rally in this village and are getting ready to hold another one next month. Pastor Sudath, an ex- Airforce serviceman (SLAF) heads this ministry amongst them. Your prayers will be very much appreciated. God bless you.
